Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was born in Barcelona and has been described as an "atypical pop star" because of her diverse musical styles. [9] After being enthralled by Spanish folk music at the age of thirteen, she studied musicology at Catalonia College of Music while also performing at musical bars and weddings.She graduated with distinction due to her album of cover songs that she collaborated with Raul Refree in Los Angeles (2017) and her Baccalaureate-related project El Mal Querer (2018). The album reinvented flamenco by combining it with pop and hip-hop. The singles "Malamente", and "Pienso En Tu Mira" were popular among the Spanish populace and won the acclaim of all critics. The album was awarded the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year and featured in the Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the rise of Rosalia into the world of music. Rosalia's albums of 2019 "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urbano music, achieving world-wide success. The third studio album she released, Motomami (2022) brought reggaeton an innovative sound that was breaking away from the previous flamenco-inspired style. The album caught international attention with its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was the top-rated album this year by Metacritic. Rosalia has scored ten number one songs in the course of her career in her country of birth. This is the highest number for an artist hailing from the area. Rosalia has received eleven Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards as well as four MTV Europe Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards, and two Premio Ruido Awards. In 2019, Billboard gave her the Rising Star Award for "changing the music of the present day music through her unique flamenco-influenced pop",[18] and became the first act from Spain in history to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammy Awards. Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born into a family of no artistic background and is the youngest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who runs a small family company that specializes in metalwork. Jose Manuel Vila, her father, was born in Cudillero. They divorced in the year 2019. (23.) Rosalia's older sister Pilar Vila who was born in 1989, is her stylist. Rosalia was interested in the performing arts from a young age, especially after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She started her musical education at Taller de Musics. She took part in a 6-year course at the academy. She was a student at the Raval School, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Additionally, she sang as an individual at weddings and in bars with musical music where she was paid "a less than 80 euros in exchange for dinner".
